Unleashed Justice is a Chicago-based rescue dedicated to dogs whose people are navigating incarceration, eviction, deportation, hospitalization, or domestic violence. We foster, rehome, and when possible, reunite.

Unleashed Justice was founded by a group of attorneys and advocates who met — and in some cases sparred — inside Chicago's legal system. Defense attorneys. A soon-to-be prosecutor. A social worker who spent years navigating the gap between what the law does and what communities actually need.
What we share is this: years of watching the legal system disrupt families in ways that rarely make headlines. The housing lost. The sentences served. The crises that arrive without warning. And running through all of it — the dog at home with no plan.
Unleashed Justice was founded in 2026 to do something about that.
In the legal world, almost everything is adversarial. But we have never met anyone — regardless of where they stood — who didn't care about what happened to someone's dog.
Our referral network runs through the legal aid organizations, public defenders, and social service providers already in the room when crisis hits.
Someone is arrested, detained, evicted, or hospitalized. A legal aid partner, public defender, or social worker reaches out to us on their behalf.
We place the dog with a vetted foster in our network — safe, loved, and cared for — while their person's situation unfolds. No surrender required.
Reunification when possible. A forever home when it's not. Every outcome is handled with care for both the animal and the family they came from.
Fostering with Unleashed Justice means you're not just caring for a dog — you're holding space for a family during one of the hardest moments of their lives. Our fosters are the backbone of everything we do.
We provide veterinary support, supplies, and guidance. You provide a safe, loving home for however long it's needed.
You don't need experience — you need patience, reliability, and a home where a dog can feel safe. We work with apartments and houses, singles and families.
Our fosters understand that the dogs in their care may have come from chaotic circumstances. Compassion is the only requirement.
